CHOP Opens Discussion with Community Families on Local Substance Abuse Resources

The CHOP -Coalition for Heroin and Opioid Prevention- committee provided a free showing of the Not my Child documentary to focus on collaboration of parents and families to local community substance abuse treatment resources . The Not my Child documentary provided informative stories of local Missouri families that have experienced the pain of losing a child to overdose or are still currently battling substances to regain the child they know and love. Various local community service providers attended the showing to provide answering of questions that community members had regarding local services available or to provide handouts guiding them to a provider that could answer further questions. The continued goal of the CHOP committee is to further open the discussion of Opioid and Heroin addiction within our community and to educate community families on options that are readily available to them. As always, the CHOP committee and local agencies remind the community that recovery is always possible and there are local providers WAITING to help!

Agencies present: Perryville Counseling Center, Perryville Community Task force, Community Counseling Center, New Life Mission Inn, Perry County Sherrif’s Department, Perryville Police Department, New Vision, and Gibson Recovery Center.

CHOP thanks Perry Park Center for providing the theater for this showing and New Life Vision Inn-Missouri for providing free refreshments for this event!
